The inner court gathered together in January to complete a discussion on our mission, our vision and our values. This discussion began in December, but was tabled until we could have time to think about what these things meant, and what they meant to us as a group. Our About Us section will be updated to include this information, but until then, here are our statements:

Twilight Spiral Coven’s Mission Statement:

We share our knowledge and gifts as a close-knit hierarchical coven of Wiccan women who support one another.

Twilight Spiral Coven’s Vision Statement:

Together, we celebrate holy days and evolve spiritually while giving back to the community, both magical and mundane.

And our nine Core Values:

  • Creativity – new ideas are always welcome
  • Sustainability – we train priestesses, not acolytes
  • Piety – devotion to the craft and our spirituality, each sister is expected to have a personal practice
  • Respect – we respect one another, including eachother’s time
  • Sisterhood – we are a family
  • Celebration – we encourage joy in all forms
  • Integrity – we strive to be an example of a solid coven
  • Empowerment – each sister stands in her own power, even while in circle with the group
  • Diversity – we bring our diverse gifts, beliefs and interests to create a rich coven culture

At this all-coven meeting, we came together to charge our vision boards under the light of the full moon in leo. Together, we created sigils, and then joined hands, lifting them up to the sky as we chanted to activate, not only our own vision board, but those of our sisters as well. These are only some of our vision boards, others were camera shy.

Yule 2015

Yule, as per coven tradition, is our main friends and family ritual. This gives us a chance to invite all of our friends and family to our ritual. This year, along with the Sun God, we honored The Cailleach- the crone goddess of winter. After ritual, we hosted a book swap, where our priestesses and guests were invited to bring a book they no longer cared for, to swap with a new-to-them book. Following our ritual was our traditional potluck. May your winter holidays be blessed and a happy new year to all!

All-Coven Meeting December 2015

December’s all-coven meeting was spent creating vision boards. Ivy led us through some pre-planning activities to help us focus our vision and also to make sure that our vision could be manifest wholly by seeing it through four different lenses. Crafting a vision board in the company of sisters was a very different experience, as we could help one another find pictures and we also could talk about our personal visions. We will be using these vision boards at January’s all-coven meeting, which will culminate in an “activation” full moon ritual.

Samhain 2015

This Samhain, as per coven tradition, we built our ancestor shrine. In our ritual, we honored Hecate and Hades. We had a processional to our ancestral ritual space, and shared stories about our ancestors and talked about our family trees. We gave offerings and had conversations with our ancestors during deep meditation. Heather wrote our lore in verse this year, and I’d like to share that with you:

Light the balefire, come in New Year
The Witches’ Sabbat is drawing near

Samhain we celebrate with sisters here
A time to toast all those we hold dear

The veil in thin, the spirits appear
We greet them with feasting, wine and beer

The final harvest is what we share
The animals slaughtered before winter’s tear

Jack-o-lanterns guard our sacred space
Apples are offered to the spirits of place

Fairies do pranks, be careful where you roam
But the candles are lit to guide our spirits home

The wheel has turned, winter is near
A merry Samhain to all gathered here!
